Ivan Mesík has been selected in the Slovakia squad for their upcoming UEFA Nations League fixtures. The Charlton Athletic defender will join his national team for home games against Moldova and Kazakhstan later this month.
Mesík, a summer signing from Dutch side Heracles Almelo, has featured eight times for the Addicks across all competitions this season. His international call-up comes as Charlton sit sixth in the Championship on 12 points from seven games, a solid start to the campaign.
"I am proud to represent Slovakia at the international level," Mesík said.
The 25-year-old earned his senior debut against Slovenia in March 2025 and now has three caps. Slovakia will play Moldova at home on Sunday, September 26th before hosting Kazakhstan on Tuesday, September 29th. They then travel to face the Faroe Islands on Friday, October 2nd and Moldova away on Tuesday, October 6th.
Mesík's selection highlights his importance to Nathan Jones's side. The defender will be aiming to add to his international experience before returning to club duty. The squad's current standings position reflects a promising opening to the season.
