Charlton Athletic are locked in a transfer battle with Wolves for Estoril midfielder Jordan Holsgrove. The 26-year-old has a €3.5 million (£3m) asking price and is also wanted by Werder Bremen, Augsburg and Hamburg. The Addicks finished 19th in the Championship last season with 53 points, 42 behind leaders Coventry.

Who is Jordan Holsgrove?

Holsgrove came through the Reading academy and has since played for Olympiacos and Estoril. He has made 76 league appearances for the Portuguese side, scoring four goals and providing 13 assists. His contract runs until 2028.

Why is Charlton interested?

Charlton are looking to strengthen their midfield after a disappointing campaign. They scored 44 goals and conceded 58, finishing with a -14 goal difference. Their last result was a 3-1 loss to Swansea on 2 May 2026.

What are the obstacles?

Wolves are also keen on Holsgrove, as are several German clubs. The Bundesliga sides can offer top-flight football, which could make them more attractive. Charlton's next fixture is an away game against West Ham on 22 August 2026.
