Charlton Athletic must be ruthless in their transfer business this summer if they are to avoid another relegation battle. The Addicks' overall lack of quality in the squad is concerning, and changes are needed. The team must be a lot better offensively next term, and to do that, they must restructure their current group of forwards. Cashing in on Daniel Kanu, in particular, is a decision that Nathan Jones' side must come to. The 21-year-old spent last term on loan at Walsall in League Two, where he scored 15 goals in 40 league appearances, demonstrating his dominance at that level. Despite his impressive season, CAFC must look to sell their academy graduate. If Charlton Athletic aren't going to include Kanu in their plans next term, it makes sense for them to make a decent profit on the youngster. The Addicks have to start adopting superior teams' transfer strategies if they are to progress into a contending Championship side. Charlton Athletic have already rejected bids for Daniel Kanu this transfer window, but they should be willing to cash in this summer. Several clubs have enquired about taking the striker on loan for next season, and it's likely that League One is the Sierra Leone international's next destination should he not be involved in Jones' side. With one year left on his deal, his exit would almost certainly be on a permanent basis. There's still a chance CAFC want to retain their academy graduate, and therefore he may be offered a new contract this summer. However, if a suitable offer comes in, the South London outfit shouldn't want to stand in his way of regular first-team football. The 21-year-old is a player with a lot of potential to become a great striker in the EFL. However, Charlton Athletic need proven goalscorers now to compete in the Championship. Arguably, at least two of Kanu, Miles Leaburn, Isaac Olaofe, and Micah Mbick must leave this summer to free up needed space, and it's unlikely Jones will want to lose Leaburn or Mbick. CAFC had rejected two bids from Brighton in January for the former Colchester United loanee, and the 19-year-old is probably the Addicks' best asset. That leaves the Sierra Leone international and the disappointing Olaofe as the next to leave The Valley. Karlan Grant's arrival also enforces exits to be sanctioned, and Kanu seems the likely departure. As long as Charlton Athletic insert a sell-on or even a buy-back clause in a future deal, there can't be too many complaints about letting the youngster leave.
