Charlton Athletic have completed the signing of Australian defender Grace Johnston from Perth Glory. The 21-year-old has signed a two-year contract with the option of an additional year, becoming the Addicks' second summer signing.
Johnston began her career at the Football West National Training Centre before joining Perth Glory in 2023. She has also represented Australia at youth international level up to Under-23s. After spells with Preston Lions and Keilor Park, she returned to Glory for the 2025/26 season.
The signing comes as Charlton look to strengthen their defensive options. Currently 19th in the Championship with 53 points from 46 games (13W-14D-19L), the Addicks have conceded 58 goals this season. Johnston's arrival could provide a boost as they aim to improve their defensive record.
Johnston expressed her excitement at joining Charlton, saying: "I am so excited, if you speak to anyone, it has been my dream to play in England. I am excited to play with and against the best players in the world."
Charlton's next fixture is at home against Cardiff City on 20 February 2027. With 42 points separating them from league leaders Coventry, the Addicks will be looking to build momentum in the second half of the season.
